It’s been a long, long time since Hank Spears was just a scrapper going through one junked starship to another pickup pieces he thought were valuable. He was taught the scrapping business by his adopting father, Lutch, and he learned many, many lessons in life while living under this man. Now those lessons are serving him well by shaping him up to the be kind of leader the galaxy needs right now.
Hank Spears along with Lara Shen, a.k.a. Kilara Vex, Alex, his Uncle and brother to Lutch, Imogen, a former Inquisition Acolyte, and Clynt Nameless, a Vekrass of questionable morals form a team of the most capable operators in the known galaxy. They have single handedly brought together various factions in the galaxy that were deadly enemies to each other for many years, decades and even centuries. Yet, Hank convinced these different factions that they had to act together if they were going to overcome initially Code Name: Extinction and then the very evil AI, Twain!
Together with his allies, Hank and company did manage to defeat both of those dreaded enemies. But now a new enemy has come onto the scene. And it was ironic that this new enemy was foretold by Twain who said he’s actions were only done to prepare humanity for this coming enemy, the Sectiaans.
The Sectiaans were here now and they were attacking everything in the galaxy all at once. There was no seemingly workable way to stop their onslaught. This enemy was a combination of technology and biology fused together into some of the most vile creatures knows to man. They didn’t just attack, they ate their victims by covering them in an acid-like substance that broke the object down into components usable by the Sectiaan entities themselves. They had attacked Emortium, the seat of the Consortium government and were systematically destroying everything on that planet. They were after the Triumvirs that called the shots and could possible form some kind of resistance to the Sectiaan invasion.
Hank knew that he has to rally the surviving humans and other aliens against the Sectiaans. He knows that he can only do this by rescuing the three Triumvirs that are actually not on Emortium, but at a secret hidden away fortification built just for the retreat of the Consortium’s government. Yet, the Sectiaans have found this secret base and again attacking it with a massive amount of forces. Hank and his crew of the *Buzzard* have to get there in time to rescue these three people, one of which is Imogen’s Uncle Vince Delfina, and a Triumvirate. Vince has been a long time politician but he has a reasonableness about him that could do the Consortium well in their time of need. The other two Triumvirates appear to be rigid politicians that say a lot of things but get nothing practical done. Except for one that remembers to secure some of the most secret documents that the Consortium has ever written. These documents will tell Hank and his allies that secret bases were built right after the old war two-hundred years ago to produce weapons unknown to human kind. Those bases were abandoned when the Consortium when bonkers and declared Artificial Intelligence and outlaw technology that had to be abandoned and never used again!
But, Hank had just proven that the humans or aliens could form a working relationship with AIs that didn’t have to be destructive. He’s been working perfectly fine with his AI friend, Ned, who he found on one of his early scrapper missions. Ned has been very instrumental in the success the galaxy has had agains Code Name: Extinction (that’s a stupid name for an enemy) and Twain. Without Ned, Hank was pretty sure that humanity and all aliens wouldn’t be alive right now. Hank was also able to find other war fighting AIs that were secreted away by some thoughtful Triumvirs some two-hundred years ago because they recognized the ban on AIs was a serious loss to the Consortium.
Now, those living in this galaxy had not problem with AIs and were working with them against this new Sectiaan threat. Hank had also found that one of the secret bases contained a *Project Colossus* that sounded like something the galaxy needed right now. If they were ever going to defeat the Sectiaan and their numerous armadas, then they were going to need more fire power. So, Hank and his crew took off to find *Project Colossus* and see if it was worth the finding. You’re going to find out it very much was, but it didn’t last long.
So, the Consortium government has fallen for all practical purposes. There is no seat of government and everything that was the power of the Consortium has been absorbed by the Sectiaans or been completely destroyed. Can Hank and his friends fight off another enemy that seems to have no limits? We don’t find out in this book, so you’ll have to continue with book 15, “Final Dawn”, now available on Amazon.
