And the story just goes on and one. We’re up to book 30 as you are probably well aware of now and Van Tudor and company are still fighting the bad guys. Surprisingly, these stores haven’t centered around the children of the original *Fafnir* starship, the very same starship that Van found in his Grandfathers barn oh so many years ago! Now Van is a Peacemaker Master and really in-charge of the whole Peacemaker Guild after tearing it down and re-writing the charter. The Guild had become too corrupt by allowing certain individuals to become Masters who were only out for themselves. Van Tudor with his wife, Torina and friends, Rab, Funboy, Gabby and Icky along several honorable Peacemakers cleaned house and now had three respectable Masters doing what Masters were supposed to do. But their work was never done.
For Van Tudor’s part, he tended to take on the protection of Earth over everything else. Since Earth had come to the attention of the galactic space entities and considering how utterly ignorant humans on Earth were about the galaxy, someone definitely needed to look out for it. So Van and company had established the Nexus after thoroughly shocking the citizens of Iowa and the rest of the world that aliens did exist. The Nexus has become the trade focus for all galactic concerns. Van knew that there were numerous swindlers, cheats, and downright criminals that would loved to have bilked Earth out of its riches. But that wasn’t going to happen while Master Tudor was around.
He had also built up quite a protection service around Earth and they were ensuring any bad guys stayed away or else. But now Earth is trying to get into the galactic trade business by building their own twist enabled starships. The latest venture was from the Chinese and the handwriting on the wall was that Van Tudor couldn’t really stop Earth from making its own way into the galactic community.
So, he went back to focusing on the one enemy that so far had alluded all his efforts and that was the Stillness. They were around and had been causing trouble throughout the galaxy for a long, long time. The main problem with dealing with them was they couldn’t be found. Oh, one or two Stillness agents would show up from time to time and they would be dealt with, but none of them would reveal where their HQ was or who was leading this notorious criminal gang. Van was going to find out and do something about the Stillness right now.
In this book there will be other action not directly about the Stillness. Van Tudor is still a Peacemaker so he has to stop criminal activities when he sees them. Somebody stealing transports ships is one such incident that he and his crew begin to investigate. They quickly find out where these crooks are collecting their stolen ships and Van gathers and adequate force to deal with whomever is there. Van has been training his own forces which are called the Shrikes. There are fifteen of these highly trained covert operators and they command three separate stealth ships which are combat ready at a moments notice. They are soon going to be involved in most every new mission that Van and the *Fafnir* take on.
Then we eventually get towards the end of the book when we read about a plan to finally get the Intel on where the Stillness HQ might be located. Van knows they’re in a general direction outside of known space, but he has no idea exactly where. The information they need could be acquired when a meeting is taking place between a money-launderer and a high ranking Stillness VIP. The only problem is that there’s no way any of Van’s people can get near the meeting place without being detected. The location will be swarming with Stillness Agents and even the Shrikes won’t be of much help. So, how do they go about getting someone close enough to eavesdrop on the meeting conversation?
This is where Perry’s abilities come into the pictures, but he’s not going to be the bird we all know. He’s going in disguise and he could very well be caught and that will be the end of Perry! Or will Van Tudor even allow Perry to risk his life this way? Either way it’s going to be an interesting and very surprising read.
But don’t be surprised that this series continues with book 31, “Battle Born”, now available on Amazon.
