This was a pretty short book. And it appears that the author is ending this series with this book which is just fine. He’s done about everything you can do with some extraordinary people while twisting time to fit his plot! Yes, this whole story started out with an evil alien tricking humanity in to fight against an enemy that really wasn’t their enemy. Once the humans found out that Seraphis, Akakie alien, was the real enemy, they quickly turned against him and have been fighting for what seems like ages.
And it has been ages because we’ve got time travel introduced into the story. Additionally we’re going to find battles with very evil and smart AI’s that would prefer that living entities didn’t exist. That was some kind of battle right there. After that we find out that all of our action and activities have been watched by some gods from where ever they live. It seems like Zara and Lysander as gods, have been playing with all history creating all these battles just for their entertainment.
Fortunately, Lysander was the good guy and he didn’t see this as something he and Zara should be doing. But, Zara of course wanted her side to win and that would be Seraphis. Seraphis was all for wiping out all civilizations but his own and had come pretty near doing that in the story. But again, we time traveled to where that all unraveled. If this all sounds confusing, I guess it should unless you’ve read all seven books.
This last book is going to be the final battle. Seraphis, with the help of his goddess, Zara, has gathered all the fleets of the know galaxy except for the Xortaag fleet. That fleet is commanded by General Maada and he’s on the good side. Seraphis is tired of Major Ethan Irons and his friends always seeming to get the better of him and either wipe his forces out or just killing him. So now he’s taking this gigantic fleet to Earth to make sure no humans survive to take the place of Major Ethan Irons once he kills him in this last battle.
Present day Major Ethan Irons hear’s about this pending destruction of Earth a long ways in the future. He’s visited by none other than himself and several of his friends from the past. Those friends are the same ones that exist in present day so we have two of almost everybody discussing how to stop Seraphis from destroying Earth. It’s understood that if he does, then everything and everyone will cease to exist so it’s kind of important they prevent this from happening.
Thanks to a mad scientist, Professor Klutz Arcah, everyone can travel back in time to when Seraphis is getting ready to destroy Earth. All that nonsense we’ve heard about your doppelgänger not being able to exist with his/her twin seems to be just nonsense to the Professor and everyone else. So, we’ve got quite a gang of main characters, some going by the name of Ethan Prime versus just Ethan or Jarred Prime versus just Jarred. And this situation becomes really chaotic when the author continues to use his idiotic dialogue streams.
The one thing I don’t like about this book is that every sentence is nothing but a series of metaphors, one after another. If all these metaphors were omitted, this book would be about two pages long! And do these characters talk! They talk all the time. They talk when they’re shooting bad guys, where they’re supposed to be stealthily quiet, when they having nothing to say! And the language, well, they wouldn’t be getting away with some of it with a kid around. I think sometimes they forget that Ethan’s son, Jamie, is still around and he’s got big ears. Anyway, they should be cleaning up their language since none of the two human main characters are actually in the military.
The book and this series ends pretty well. Everything gets tied up as it should. I know the author was trying to put some humor in his books but some of it just didn’t work, but that’s my opinion and it didn’t matter much because I bought and read all seven books. So, good job Mr. Sean Robins! [ Note: Looks like the author updated all his previous book covers for this series.]
